ABAT's "Fifth Graders Motion Pictures" Present: Around China in One Day!

Ni Hao everybody!

We promised you last time that you will be hearing from us soon, so here we are keeping our words as always...

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 was a day to remember in all means!!! What was it about? What makes it such a memorable and unique event? ... Well, for those of you who did not have a chance to be there, we will be more than glad to update you with the slightest details, so please be patient and read along...

" Around China in One Day" was a production of our ABAT's young fifth graders, a creative approach to celebrate the richness of the Chinese culture in their own special way as well as a further mile covered on our journey toward the International School Award.

The vibrant red color was present everywhere: in costumes, accessories, decorations, foods, and crafts, since it is China's traditional color and a sign of happiness and good luck; and we obviously got our share of joy and enthusiasm on that day. Let's not forget the Chinese music that spread all around the ABAT primary campus, adding a Far Eastern touch to the atmosphere.

A Giant Panda bear, the Chinese mascot, was hosting the event; can you believe that?Well, it truly happened. Our grade five students, and for three consecutive shows, introduced the Chinese culture to their peers and parents through a briefing informational presentation about China.

Then, they taught the audience the main Chinese greetings; the interaction with the spectators was more than awesome. You would hear "Ni Hao, Ni Zao, Huanying, Xie Xie Ni, Zaijian" here and there.

However, the fun and excitement do not stop here! A team of Kung Fu fighters, selected among our fifth-grader guys, amazed the spectators with their martial arts moves so well coordinated and skillfully performed!

Last but not least, we could not but spotlight the major Chinese food inventions and most famous dishes in the cutest outfits ever!

Hold your horses, dear readers, because our event does not end here! Our panda bear host, who never let go off his precious bamboo stick, invited everyone to visit the Chinese craft and food exhibition to learn more closely about this interesting culture and dig in our savory homemade noodles, almond cookies, sweet coated peanuts and other tasty desserts, all exclusively made in ABAT!!!

We cannot but send our deepest and warmest thanks to everyone who made this Chinese day a success:

  • The Chinese Embassy in Beirut and more particularly the head of the cultural office Chief Huang Hongchang for his ultimate generosity in sponsoring this event.

  • Our fifth graders' parents for their trust, support, and help in making this event see the light.

  • Our amazing ABAT primary campus team; the IT officer Miss Tharwat, supervisor Mrs. Rima, head of department Mrs. Najwa, and our principal Mrs. Ghina; your kindness made me speechless.

  • Our team of English teachers, Samar, Jinan, and Sara, who ,as I always say, completely rock!

  • My fifth-grade partner and colleague, Mrs. Hiba; your patience and sweetness are out of this world dear!

  • My lovely grade 5 A and B students; your enthusiasm and stamina can move mountains, my sweethearts...

I can go on forever... Please forgive my flow; it is all due to the "Chinese Effect" on my pen... Dear readers, next time, no excuses for not attending our upcoming event.

Remember; ABAT, it is THE place to be!!!

Zaijian everyone!

P.S. You will hearing from the ABAT"ans" sooner than you think...
