Make Today the Day to Stop Smoking!

The grade sixth science curriculum includes many important themes related to our daily life; the most interesting one is the effect of smoking on our different organ systems. Only through the mutual interaction of students with their teachers and their other classmates getting to their parents we were able to accomplish the aim of this project “make today the day to stop smoking”. Students started first by working on this project by collecting the required data and summarizing it. Then they designed a box containing 10 cards including the essential information about the effects of smoking on our health and presented it in front of their smoking teachers and in front of their peers in grades four and five. Afterwards, a discussion occurred between students where some asked specific questions and others reflected what they understood. As for the parents, a message was sent to them by their own children as an advice to stop smoking. The most striking thing the students came up with from this project was that all of them promised that they will never smoke, and not even try one cigarette; not forgetting about their boundless enthusiasm during their presentation.
