Connecting Classroom!!!

One of our challenges for this year in Ali Bin Abi Taleb College -and indeed one of many novelties we are planning to implement- is participating in the British Council's "Connecting Classrooms".

"Connecting Classrooms" is a global program aiming at building partnerships between schools in the United Kingdom and clusters of schools around the world.
Being part of such an international project will provide our young students with unique opportunities to enhance their knowledge as well as their understanding of other cultures, and thus prepare them to grow as global citizens.

As for our preparations... well... we'll keep them undercover for now...

Wait for our upcoming news and activities... We promise that you will be dazzled, the A.B.A.T way!!!

The Primary School Campus Embracing the First Parents' Meeting at Ali Bin Abi Taleb College!

BY Sahar Chaer-English language coordinator for cycles 1 & 2

Our school campus has been quite a beehive today; teachers, administrators, and school staff were busy preparing for their first parent-teacher meeting for the scholastic year 2011-2012.
Parents of all grade students were warmly welcome into our campus in Bechara El Khoury street and had the opportunity to visit our classrooms. Parents had the chance to meet all their children's teachers and were given an insight into the goals and objectives of each school subject in a positive and collaborative atmosphere. After the meeting, teachers answered all the parents' questions and concerns and provided them with the details they needed.
Today's meeting was our first home-school "connecting"occasion for this year, a first step in many yet to come.

Makassed-Davidson ICT Dialogue

When Dr. Mohamed Naffi was visiting his daughter Nadia who is studying for an M.A. in Educational Technology at Concordia University in Canada, he met her thesis supervisor Dr. Ann-Louise Davidson. What was at first a personal familial visit turned out to be the kernel for a stimulating discussion for Dr. Naffi. Indeed, Dr. Naffi thought that Dr. Davidson’s expertise in the use of technology in education, especially special education, could be useful to Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association in Beirut because they have always been at the avant-garde of educational ideas and have always known how to seize a good opportunity. The acquaintance between the two academics culminated in an academic meeting wherein educationists from Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association as well as other institutions interacted with Dr. Davidson to share knowlege and common concerns about ICT.
