Let us first start by introducing ourselves. We are middle school students at Ali Bin Abi Taleb College, one of Makassed schools in Beirut.
We strongly believe that school life goes beyond mere learning and should prepare us to become responsible citizens who care about their community and do their best to make positive change in any way they can.
It is with this spirit, and with the kind support of the British Council, and with the collaboration of Makassed Sawiri School, that we have launched our fundraising International Bake Sale .
This activity is one of a series of ten activities that will make our school eligible to earn the international school award, offered by the British Council for schools that are distinctive in the enhancement of the international dimension in their curriculum. It is considered to be an international one since we did meticulous research for international food and recipes, and we prepared them too! Our partner schools in Nottingham will have the chance of sharing this day through the British Council Schools Online website.
For our bake sale cause, we voted for raising funds for the children’s cancer center at Makassed. We became aware of the tragic situation that these children face through several lectures and lessons, and we wanted to be part of all great deeds that Makassed do for these children. We decided to help, to be part of the CFU mission-to make difficult smiles easy!
This booklet shows our international recipes and some photos of preparation for the bake sale. Keep it as a souvenir & remember that you joined us in our campaign to spread the CFU mission… Also remember us when you try one of the tasty international recipes!
Sincerely,
Ali Bin Abi Taleb College Students
