Six graders with their parents performed the Handprint Family Tree activity.
The objective of this activity is to distinguish between inherited and learned traits.
Students have traced the right and left hand of his/her and their parents. On
each finger of the left handprint an inherited trait is listed, while on each
finger of the right hand print a learned trait is listed. All the family’s handprints are glued on the trunk to form a tree. Each student can see how
their parents’ grandparents’ trait is compared to his/her own. Some students
represented their work to their classmates with enthusiasm.

How are Living Things Organized?
Six graders represented the levels of organization
(cell, tissue, organ, and organ system) in their own way. Individual students
acted as a single cell, then similar cells grouped (students wearing the same
colored t- shirt) to present a tissue. In addition, two or more group of
students (tissues) form an organ. Finally, different groups of students (three
organs) form an organ system (Digestive System).

games and listening to a song.
Students enjoyed assessing their friends’ knowledge using
the different active board features.

Nature Nurturers Project: A Golden Medal Winning Project in Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert Program 2015
Nature nurturers project is PBL project that started during the last academic year. The objective was to raise awareness about the importance of increasing the green areas in our community in both direct and indirect ways.
What made this project a blast was the collaboration between the primary and the high school at A.B.A.T.
Now, we would like to share below what my colleague Fouad Mneimneh and I worked on through this project with the help of the school teachers.
Please have a look and comment!
